Struggling after a bad golf round? Learn how to evaluate your performance with a simple post-round template to turn frustration into progress.
We aren’t all Scottie Scheffler (not saying he doesn’t have bad rounds from time to time, but it certainly feels like he doesn’t!). A majority of us are going to have a “bad round” and really, it is all relative. BUT, how do we begin to recover from a bad round?
For me, I like to try and sit down afterwards and think: “what did I do well? What are some areas I lacked in? How was my mental approach to each shot?” If it is helpful to write it down, go for it. I’ve done that before too and loved it. This way, you can identify what areas need work so you can prioritize in your practice. Outline your stats, give a rating on each section of your game, write down what you thought the errors were and what the result of good and bad shots were. I even write down the weather for that day so I can understand if that had any potential effect on the outcome. Something like below is what I love to try and think about (thank you, ChatGPT for helping me get my thoughts formatted lol)
